Resources for Summer Students

Current Students

There's no need to reapply if you’re enrolled in the spring and continuing your program. Just register, plan your summer schedule, and keep moving forward!

Register by accessing My UNC Charlotte and log in with your NinerNET username and password.

If you are a UNC Charlotte degree or certificate student enrolled in credit courses in Spring 2026 and have not earned a degree or completed program requirements you are a current student and do not need to apply for admission to take summer courses.

Incoming Fall 2026 freshmen are not current students and may be interested in Summer Start if they wish to take Summer 2026 courses.

Seeking readmission?

If you are seeking readmission to pursue UNC Charlotte undergraduate coursework you are not a current student and should contact Niner Central.

Enrolled in programs at institutions other than UNC Charlotte?

If you are seeking admission to UNC Charlotte programs or are enrolled in programs at institutions other than UNC Charlotte you are not a current student and should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or The Graduate School about the application process.

Enrolled as visiting student?

If you are an undergraduate student who enrolled as visiting students in Spring 2026 you are not a current student and will need to reapply to take summer courses.

Post-baccalaureate (Non-Degree) student?

If you are a Post-baccalaureate (Non-Degree) student who was enrolled in credit courses in Spring 2026 you must re-apply for Post-baccalaureate admission to take summer courses.

Visiting Students

UNC Charlotte welcomes summer visitors who wish to earn course credits toward their degree from another institution, for their professional advancement, or for their personal enrichment.

Start the registration process with submitting your application. If you have attended UNC Charlotte as a visiting student before you need to submit a new application.

Application Deadline

Visiting students can begin registering for classes beginning April 6, 2026. We recommend you apply at the start of the session since many courses quickly reach the maximum capacity. The final application deadline for summer full term and first half term is May 1, 2026 and June 1, 2026 for summer second half term. Admissions will not accept any applications (visitors, freshmen, second degree or transfers) for summer second half term after these dates.

Admissions will take about 2 weeks to process your application; once your application is processed you will receive a letter with your username, ID number, and instructions on how to register for your classes.

Graduate students should refer to the Graduate School admissions information and may be eligible to take a graduate course as a non-degree student.

Already have a degree?

If you already have a degree and are not enrolled in a degree program you must visit the Post-baccalaureate (Non-Degree) application. Students who already hold a baccalaureate degree are not eligible to apply as visiting students with Undergraduate Admissions.

Working toward your first bachelor’s degree?

If you do not already have a degree and are not enrolled in degree programs at UNC Charlotte you MUST complete an Online Application. The application fee is $75.00 and can be paid online in the form of a credit card or debit card.

NOTE: The online application is the same application that ALL students interested in coming to UNC Charlotte fill out. If you are a visiting student for the summer, please fill out the high school information to the best of your availability. High school transcripts are not required. Please see below for more important information about transcripts.

Once admitted, how do I register?

The registration is online using My UNC CharlotteClick the “Need Help” link to activate your NinerNET account.

All would-be Summer School registrants receive a registration appointment date and time: this is the date and time after which you are free to register. Registration priorities are assigned to current students first, and then to visiting students. Applicants will be notified regarding the success of their application and the time and date assigned for registration.

What about transcripts?

Visiting Summer Students do not need to send a transcript with their admissions application. Please do not send transcripts to Admissions.

What if the course I want has prerequisites? Some departments will require that a transcript be sent directly to their office in order to allow you into a higher level class. To get information for contacting academic departments please click department contacts.

What courses will transfer back to my College or University?

Students taking courses to transfer to another institution should be sure to follow the procedures of their “home” institution to confirm the applicability of specific UNC Charlotte summer term courses to their academic program. Visiting students should also arrange to have a transcript of their UNC Charlotte coursework sent to their home institution upon the completion of their summer term classes.

To assist you with your educational planning, the Office of Admissions has developed a course equivalency table, Undergraduate Admission Transfer Credit Advisor. If a course equivalency table does not exist for your institution, please speak with your home academic advisor for recommendations. To find courses that may be equivalent at your current institution, students can use the Course Catalogs to find descriptions for courses to confirm with their academic advisors at their “home” institution.

Summer Start

Incoming Students

If you have been admitted as a UNC Charlotte student in fall, you have the opportunity to get a head start on your academic career by enrolling in a course offered in Summer Second Half Term.

Take advantage of the smaller summer course size, sample college-level coursework, and expectations, and meet new people. Research on student success consistently supports the idea of making a start in the summer directly prior to the fall that follows it and cites the following advantages:

  • Having credit hours under your belt before you begin the fall semester
  • Relieving the stress on your first-year academic load
  • Learning to navigate the campus

How to get started

Once you have been accepted to UNC Charlotte, you should follow these simple steps:

  1. Email admissions (admissions@charlotte.edu); include your name, a piece of identifying information (date of birth, mailing address, student ID#, or something similar), and request to have your application moved to Summer Second Half Term.
  2. Sign up for New Student Orientation (NSO) that is held before July. When you go to NSO you can sign up for your Summer School course.
  3. If your NSO session is in July or later, contact ucol-advising@charlotte.edu with questions and course selection.

Please note: Your AP credits and choice of major will influence your course selection. Seek advising during NSO or contact ucol-advising@charlotte.edu with questions and course selection.
